FAQ

General

Where are you located?

  • I work at a shop called The Present Tattoo Parlor at 2224 E 35th Street in Minneapolis, MN. This is a shared workspace.

How can i prepare for my tattoo appointment?

  • Bring a valid ID to your appointment.

  • Be sure to get enough rest the night before, stay hydrated the day prior, and eat a good meal.

  • Bring water and snacks with you to your appointment.

  • Keep your skin hydrated.

  • Wear clothing that allows easy access to the location of the tattoo and bring a change of clothes if needed.

  • Bring something to do if you would like to keep yourself distracted, like a book, headphones if you want to listen to music or a podcast, etc.

Can I use numbing cream?

  • I am ok with numbing cream being used for the appointment, but please let me know beforehand that you plan on using numbing cream.

  • If you have never used numbing cream before, or are trying a new brand, be sure to do a test spot before the appointment to make sure you don’t have any reactions.

How do I heal my tattoo and what should I expect during the healing process?

  • I offer derm shield to heal tattoos. Derm shield acts as a second skin that will create a seal over your tattoo and prevent any bacteria from getting inside the wound. For clients who are sensitive to adhesives and second skins, I wrap tattoos with plastic wrap which can come off after a few hours.

  • Derm shield can be left on the skin for two to three days before taking it off. Peel derm shield away from the corners slowly and gently in the shower after letting water run down it to loosen it up.

  • It is completely normal for plasma and ink to build up under the derm shield. This is just your body trying to heal itself. If any liquids leak out of the derm shield, take it off right away.

  • Once wrap is off and the tattoos is exposed, keep the area clean with non scented soap (dial fragrance free soap works great) and make sure to keep the area hydrated. Aquafor, Lubriderm, and Hustle Butter all work great to heal tattoos.

  • Avoid exposing a fresh tattoo to the sun, and don’t submerge the tattoo in water until after three weeks of healing.

  • Expect a fresh tattoo to take anywhere from 2-3 weeks to heal.

Booking

How do I book an appointment?

  • My books open every few months on the first Saturday of the month at 12 pm for flash and custom designs.

  • Flash designs are first come, first serve, and all flash designs are booked through the “shop” tab.

  • I only take 50 custom design inquiries each time my books open, and this doesn’t guarantee an appointment. Custom inquiries can be found through the “shop” tab when my books are open. Find the “Custom Design Inquiry”, add it to your cart, then a form will pop up with all information I need to know. I typically. get back to all inquiries within 2-3 weeks.

  • My next booking period can be found on the homepage of my website.

How do I reschedule or cancel an appointment?

  • If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please email housebabytattoo@gmail.com 48 hours prior to your appointment (or as soon as you know you need to reschedule or cancel in the case of an emergency)

  • I am very understanding when it comes to cancelations and rescheduling, so please don’t be worried!

  • See my policies for more about rescheduling.

How do I ask for changes to be made to my custom design if there’s something I don’t love?

  • When it comes to custom designs, please don’t be shy with asking me to make changes! I want to ensure that you love your design and feel comfortable to ask for revisions.

Pricing

How should I pay for my tattoo?

  • Cash payments only.

  • There is no ATM at my studio.

How are your tattoos priced?

  • I price my tattoos based on the amount of time and work that I presume will go into them.

  • I give an estimate of the price of each tattoo since size and placement can change the amount of time and work that goes into the session.

  • All my flash designs have a price estimate on the listing.

  • Most flash designs range between $200 - $500.

  • I also give estimates for custom designs after I finish the drawing.

  • I am ok with working around budgets for custom designs, as long as it’s fair to both the artist and client.

How does tipping work?

  • Tips are always appreciated, but never expected.

  • Usually clients tip when they are happy with the overall work and experience.

  • Tips range in price, and whatever you would like to tip is appreciated!

  • Tipping with gifts is also acceptable! I love plants, art, handmade items, and treats/coffee.

How do deposits work?

  • Deposits give me security in knowing the client is serious about the tattoo appointment and plans on being there.

  • I take $75 deposits when I book appointments, and they go towards the final cost of the tattoo on the day of the appointment.

  • Deposits are non refundable unless I am at fault for canceling the appointment.
